Herbert George Wells (1866 - 1946) was an English writer. He was prolific in many genres, writing doz-ens of novels, short stories, and works of social commentary, but he is now best remembered for his science fiction novels. "The Island of Doctor Moreau" is a classic of early science fiction and remains one of Wells's best-known books. In the novel a shipwrecked gentleman named Edward Prendick, stranded on a Pacific island lorded over by the notorious Dr. Moreau, confronts dark secrets, strange creatures, and a reason to run for his life.
